Adults

Anyone can experience emotional distress in their life. There are times when this can become a “disorder”. Stress is an important part of life, and when we cope with it effectively, we become resilient and feel better. There are, however, times when stress can become difficult to cope with, and it can lead to “breakdowns” or “meltdowns”. You may not have “identifiable” stress to experience psychological symptoms in your life, and these can also occur without a “trigger”.

We also understand that it can be quite challenging for people to understand “mental illness”, and it can also be difficult for some people to seek out help. At Norwest Clinic, we provide a safe environment, free of judgement, where you can speak out about your distress and explore avenues for treatment.

Other issues and difficulties you may be going through are:

  • Depression/feeling down all the time
  • Loss and grief
  • Ongoing effect of trauma/ childhood trauma
  • Family and relationship problems
  • Anxiety/anger- feelings that impact home life and work
  • Coping with health issues or chronic pain
  • Post-traumatic stress
  • Addictions or self-destructive behaviours

Interpreters

We can provide interpreters in your language at no cost to you. Please be aware that this service is only for sessions with psychiatrists (not for sessions with other clinicians such as psychologists, social workers, etc.)

This service is only for services that attract a Medicare rebate. Sessions for third parties such as insurance, CTP, lawyers etc., are excluded from this service. Interpreter services for these sessions will have to be organised by the referring agency, and they will have to bear the cost.

Please ensure that you inform us about your need for an interpreter when booking your appointment.
